  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 3rd of April PEDRO MELGARO, PRIEST AND RELIGIOUS A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's Saints' books, "Stammenbuch..." (1693) According to Hueber *, Pedro Melgaro (Petrus), died godly c. 1523 at the Consolation of Mary Convent in Borba, Portugal. He was born at Valencia in Spain, and served for a time in the army of Ferdinand the Catholic and his wife Isabella. Around the year 1474 he was captured by the Portuguese, who at the time were at war with Spain (under Alphonso V). Calling on the Mother of God, Pedro was liberated by a miracle. In gratitude, he built the Franciscan monastery at Truxillo in Estremadura and, with the approval of his wife, entered the Order himself. He became a priest and founded the religious province of Saint Gabriel, Archangel. His piety and austerity earned him an honourable place in the menologies of his Order.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 3rd of April SAINT URBICUS, BISHOP OF CLERMONT According to Gall. Chr .*, Saint Urbicus was the second bishop of Clermont in France. He had previously been a senator and was married. At his ordination by Bishop Austremonius, Urbicus' wife separated herself from her husband, as was the custom of the Church, and lived in austere piety. Only once did she come back to him (Gregor. Turon. hist. I. 39.) , which pained him so much that he practiced severe penance until the end of his life. As a result of her visit, his wife gave birth to a daughter who also led a pious life.  Urbicus presided over his bishopric from the year 280 (288) to around the year 312. His relics were later translated to the Church of St Gallus, and thence into that of St Illidius. He died on April 3, 1260 and shone with numerous miracles during his lifetime and after his death. He belonged to the rich and influential family of the Savelli and was a grandnephew of Honorius III.  Very little is known of his life before he ascended the papal throne. He studied at the University of Paris, during which time he held a prebend and a canonry at the cathedral of Châlons-sur-Marne. Later he obtained the benefice of rector at the church of Berton, in the Diocese of Norwich. In 1261 he was created Cardinal-Deacon of Santa Maria in Cosmedin by Martin IV, who also appointed him papal prefect in Tuscany and captain of the papal army.  By order of Clement IV he and three other cardinals invested Charles of Anjou as King of Sicily at Rome on July 28, 1265.
