SAINT EPARCHIUS, ABBOT - 1 JULY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 1st of July SAINT EPARCHIUS, ABBOT Saint Eparchius (French: St-Cybar) was born in Perigord (Petrocorii) in France. Without their knowledge and against the will of his parents he left the world at an early age and entered the monastery of Sedaciae .  After he had served God here for a while with all zeal and even received the gift of miracles, he retired (with the permission of his abbot Martin) to a remote wilderness in the vicinity of Angouleme (Engolisma).  Ordained a priest by the bishop of that city because of his saintly conduct, he gathered about him some disciples, whom he established in the life of godliness. He also turned his love to the captives, many of whom he ransomed with charities from generous believers.  After living in his cell for 40 years, he died in the Lord in A.D. 581. SAINTS ALTINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 31 DECEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 31st of December SAINTS ALTINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Saints Altinus, Serotinus and Eobardus ( Eodaldus ) were companions of Saint Savianus and Potentianus. They preached the Christian faith in France, namely around Chartres, Paris and Orleans.  Some sources suggest that Savinianus, Potentianus and Altinus were among the 72 disciples of Christ and had been blessed by Saint Peter before he sent them to Gaul. But this assertion, as the Bollandists * remark, cannot be proven. At Creteil, two hours from Paris, Altinus and Eobardus converted many souls to the faith; among them were Saints Agoardus and Aglibertus. All these holy men are believed to have been martyred around the year 273, during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian.
