  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 12th of February SAINT ALEXIS, ARCHBISHOP OF KIEV Saint Alexis [Alexius] was a Russian nobleman who embraced the religious life under the Rule of Saint Basil, and who later became Archbishop of Kiev. Famous for the working of miracles and for wisdom and learning, he is said to have been appealed to for advice, even by the Sultan of the Turks in Asia Minor. He died in A.D. 1364. SAINT ALEXIS FALCONIERI, FOUNDER   Saint Alexis Falconieri was born in Florence, 1200; he died February 17, 1310, at Mount Senario, near Florence. He was the son of Bernard Falconieri, a merchant prince of Florence, and one of the leaders of the Republic. His family belonged to the Guelph party, and opposed the Imperialists whenever they could consistently with their political principles.  HIS HUMILITY Alexis grew up in the practice of the most profound humility. He joined the Laudesi, a pious confraternity of the Blessed Virgin, and there met the six future companions of his life of sanctity. He was favoured with an apparition of the Mother of God, August 15, 1233, as were these companions. He was the only son of a rich senator of Rome, born and educated in that capital, in the fifth century. And whilst yet a child, not content to give all he could, he left nothing unattempted to compass or solicit the relief of all whom he saw in distress.
