EGBERT, ARCHBISHOP OF TRIER - 8 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 8th of December WELCOME! VENERABLE EGBERT, ARCHBISHOP OF TRIER Venerable Egbert ( Egbertus ) is remembered on December 8 and December 9. Egbert was the son of the very powerful Count Theodoric II of Holland. In his early youth he was entrusted to the education of some pious Benedictine monks, whom he delighted with his piety and zeal. After making his profession as a youth, he received the ordination of the subdeaconate. And when, on the feast of Saint Adalbert , his special patron saint, he was prevented by a fever and ardently desired to be able to serve at the altar, he suddenly regained his health after invoking this saint.  When he was subsequently raised to the archiepiscopal see of Trier (Triers, Treves), he was so at home in his office that it seemed as if, in the solitude of his monastery, he had thought of nothing else but the duties of a bishop. He was a friend of the monasteries, watched strictly over his...

SAINT CONRAD, ARCHBISHOP OF TRIER, MARTYR Saint Conrad (Cuno), (June 1), elected Archbishop of Trier and martyr, a descendant of a noble Swabian family, was born in Pfullingen, a four-hours' ride from Tübingen (Germany). He first saw the light of day at the beginning of the 11th century. Eylolf and Azecha (Hazecha), his parents, both distinguished by wealth and virtue, made sure that their son received a careful education.  When he was older Conrad met up with  Archbishop Hanno of Cologne (who may have been a relative of his). This holy prelate ordained him a priest and also appointed him provost at his cathedral church.
