JACOB NEEL, PRIEST - 28 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 28th of February WELCOME! JACOB NEEL, PRIEST Jacob Neel (Jacobus Neel) was born on July 12, 1624 in Saint Lo (Oppidum S. Laudi) in Normandy of Christian parents, studied in Paris and entered the clergy in 1646. He joined the Third Order and excelled particularly in teaching the youth and converting sinners.  Six years before his death he locked himself in a small Carthusian-style cell and never left it except when he could attend church services or promote the salvation of his fellow human beings. He did not eat meat and fasted every day except Sundays and holidays. His greatest joy was to serve the poor, and when he lacked the means to give alms, he sold his household utensils and, without hesitation, even the ornaments of the altar. God revealed to him the time of his death, which occurred in 1662. His body rests in the choir of the Church of Our Lady in Saint Lo.  (Information from  Stadler 's Complet...
