  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 29th of October WELCOME! VENERABLE RUTHARDT, ARCHBISHOP OF MAINZ Archbishop Ruthardt and Henry V. Venerable Ruthardt (Ruthardus, Hothardus), commemorated on October 29 and May 2, was abbot of the monastery of St Peter in Herford (Hervordia) in the former county of Minden.  On September 27, 1088, he became Archbishop of Mainz, over which church he presided in an exemplary and holy manner. Ruthardt founded the Bischofsberg monastery and died on May 2, 1109. Not satisfied with the numerous and severe penances which she practiced in secret, she walked the busiest streets in poor and ragged clothes. One hot summer's day she wandered around with her fur coat turned inside out, for humility's sake, to be ridiculed as a fool. When she met her confessor on these walks, she knelt down and asked for his blessing. She built the monastery and church of the Angelics under the title of S. Paolo Converso and entered it herself (around 1535). She also founded a refuge for prostitutes in honour of Saint Mary of Egypt , later called Monache del Crocifisso .   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 29th of October SAINT ERMELINDIS, VIRGIN Saint Ermelindis (Ermelina). Her name is derived from the old German ermen , meaning harm, quarrel, [and lind , soothing], i.e. alleviating the quarrel, peacemaker.  This saintly Virgin was a native of the area of ​​Leuven [Belgium]. From an early age, she showed great love for the exercises of piety from and, in order to be able to devote herself entirely to these, withdrew into solitude, which she never left except to attend the holy Mass. THE MARTYRS OF DOUAI ⬅️ The Holy Martyrs of England and Wales The Martyrs of Douai were a group of men who trained for the priesthood at Douai College during the English Reformation and were executed on their return to England for preaching the Catholic faith.  Operating as a Roman Catholic priest during the Protestant Reformation was considered high treason, with a punishment of being hanged, drawn and quartered.  In total, 158 members of Douai College were martyred between the years 1577 and 1680, including St Robert Southwell and St Edmund Campion. These men provided essential pastoral and spiritual guidance for Catholics throughout the country and administration of the sacraments. They willingly took on this mission knowing that, as soon as they stepped onto English soil, their lives would be in imminent danger.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 29th of October DULCELINA, VIRGIN Dulcelina was the sister of the learned and devout Franciscan Hugo de Dina, who was graced by God with the gift of miracles and prophecy, and she was guided and in the fear of God by her brother.  For love of solitude she left the vain world and spoke to no one but her brother Hugo, on whose advice she also joined the Third Order of St Francis and led a very penitent life in it.  As she, in turn, was joined by several pious virgins, Hugo drew up certain statutes for them, and though they had not vowed to formal monastic life, yet they observed their constitutions scrupulously, and competed in all virtues. The Congregation of Our Lady of Rebando, which still exists today, stems from this congregation.  Dulcelina died on October 29, 1282 and was buried in the Franciscan church in Marseille at the side of her brother Hugo .
