HOLY BISHOPS OF PUY In the Elenchus * of the Bollandists *, Saints Evodius, Scrutarius , Hermentarius, Aurelius, Benignus and Suacrius, otherwise largely unknown names, are referred to as bishops of Puy (Anicium) on November 18; but it is not entirely clear whether the Evodius mentioned as part of this group of holy bishops is identical with  Evodius of Puy (November 11) or not.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 11th of November   WELCOME! SAINT EVODIUS, BISHOP OF PUY Saint Evodius was first bishop of Puy (Anicium, Podium, Urbs Vellavorum) in western France (Auvergne). He was the successor of  Saint Paulianus as the seventh bishop of Ruessium [Velay]. HE BUILT A FAMOUS CHURCH St Evodius later built a church two miles from there on the Anis (or Anicium) mountain, under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin. It did develop into a very famous church, which even now - so much later - still features the miraculous image of the Mother of God. Around the year 560 or 570, St Evodius relocated the episcopal seat to this place. Around this church, by and by, the town of Puy (Le-Puy-Notre-Dame, Le-Poy-en-Velai) developed. HE RELOCATED THE EPISCOPAL SEAT The said church possesses an original thorn of the crown of the Redeemer, gifted by Louis the Holy.
