SAINT FEAST DAY 30 JANUARY: BL. HABERILLA, ABBESS

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 30th of January WELCOME! BLESSED HABERILLA, ABBESS The maiden Haberilla lived as a hermit in a cell near the eastern end of Lake Constance, in Mehrerau, close to Bregenz, Austria, during the 7th century. ASSIDUOUS PRAYER BY DAY AND BY NIGHT She is described as continuously fixing her gaze upon Christ crucified, devoting herself to assiduous prayer by day and by night. Other women came to follow her example. This community grew into a Benedictine convent, with Haberilla as abbess. She received her habit from the priest, monk, and hermit Saint Gall (+c.645). NUMEROUS MIRACLES The tomb of Haberilla was to become the site of numerous miracles. Invalids suffering from fevers, vertigo, ophthalmia (an eye ailment), ulcers, wounds, paralysis and colic (an abdominal ailment) obtained miraculous cures through her intercession.
