The particular branch of the clan from which the blessed descended seems to have been called Bialaczów, which was also his birthplace.  After having spent his youth most gloriously in general and theological studies, he was ordained a priest by Vislaus, then Bishop of Cracow, and afterwards promoted to the rank of archdeacon.
