RICHARD OF SAINT VICTOR, ABBOT AND MYSTIC Saint Victor's Abbey, Paris Richard of St Victor, a Scotsman, student and successor of Hugh of St Victor , was prior and teacher at the monastery of St Victor in Paris. He died [March 10], 1173. Like Hugh of St Victor, Richard is a representative of orthodox mysticism. CONRAD DE GROSSIS, RELIGIOUS AND REFORMER Conrad (Konrad) de Grossis (of Prussia, of Brüssen) entered the Order of Preachers in 1370 and became a member of the Cologne monastery. In his early years, his religious zeal left something to be desired; he was known as "a wild, untamed brother". On April 18, 1387, the General of the Order, Raymond of Capua, appointed Conrad vicar of the church  "S. Maria in Valle Iosaphat iuxta Berlin" , and also allowed him to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, which brought about Conrad's most profound conversion. Taml .* and in Kelly *, but is otherwise unknown. The date of Macarius’s accession to the episcopate is found in St Jerome’s version of Eusebius’s “Chronicle”. His death must have been before the council at Tyre, in 335, at which his successor, Maximus, was apparently one of the bishops present.  HE WAS WARNED AGAINST ARIUS THE HERESIARCH Macarius was one of the bishops to whom St Alexander of Alexandria wrote warning them against Arius. BLESSED MARIE EUGENIE OF JESUS, FOUNDRESS   Anne Marie Eugenie was born in 1817 in Metz to a non-believing and financially comfortable family. Anne Eugenie went to Mass on feast days and received the Sacraments of initiation, as was the custom but without any real commitment. However, her First Communion was a great mystical experience that foretold the secret of her future. She did not grasp its prophetic meaning until much later when she recognised it as her path towards total belonging to Jesus Christ and the Church. THE MEANING OF HER FIRST COMMUNION After a prosperous period for her father, she experienced the failure of his banks, the misunderstanding and eventual separation of her parents and the loss of all security. SAINT KESSOG, BISHOP AND CONFESSOR  (Saint Mackessoge , or Kessoge , Confessor - Bishop in the provinces of Levin and Boin in Scotland.) By his instructions and counsels the pious King Congal II governed with extraordinary prudence, zeal, and sanctity.  HE WAS ILLUSTRIOUS FOR MIRACLES This saint was illustrious for miracles, and died in 560. A celebrated church in that country still bears the title of Saint Kessoge-Kirk . The Scots for their cry in battle for some time used his name, but afterwards changed it for that of St Andrew.  SOURCES They sometimes painted St Kessoge in a soldier’s habit, holding a bow bent with an arrow in it. SAINT DROCTOVAEUS, ABBOT  [Droctonius, Droctovée] King Childebert having built at Paris a famous abbey in honour of St Vincent, this saint, who was a native of the diocese of Autun, had been educated under St Germanus, abbot of St Symphorian’s at Autun, and was a person eminent for his learning and extraordinary spirit of mortification and prayer, was appointed the second, according to Duplessis, according to others, the first Abbot of this house, since called St Germain-des-Prez, in which he died about the year 580.  HIS FEAST DAY His body is kept in that abbey, and he is honoured by the church on March 10. SAINT JOHN OGILVIE, PRIEST AND MARTYR Born in 1579 and raised a Calvinist, Saint John Ogilvie felt called to become Catholic. He joined the Jesuits . Following his priestly ordination in Paris in 1610, he returned to the British Isles, where he was instrumental in bringing many souls back to the Faith. Finally he was arrested by the government for being a Catholic priest, tortured and executed in 1615. PRAYER: Almighty and eternal God,  you gave to blessed John wisdom in defending the Catholic faith and courage in facing a martyr's death: listen to our prayers,  and send us an ever greater harvest of faith, hope and love.
