SAINTS ETHELBERT AND ETHELBRIGHT, PRINCES AND MARTYRS These two saints were brothers, sons of King Ermenred of Kent and his wife Oslava, grandsons of Edbald and Emma, daughter of Clothar II, King of the Franks, and great-grandson of Saint Ethelbert, the first Christian king of Kent. After their parents' untimely death, the two brothers were entrusted to King Egbert for their upbringing and education, but at the instigation of the godless courtier Thunnur (Thunor), with the consent of the king, the 15-year-old youths were killed.
