ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 17th of October RUDOLPH OF GUBBIO, BISHOP Rudolph (Rudolfus), Bishop of Gubbio, was a disciple of St Peter Damian. He died in 1063 and is neither venerated as "Blessed" nor "Saint". His merits, however, are so outstanding that his friars, without hesitation, count him among the saints Throughout his life he not only exercised particular severity and abstinence towards his body, but also watched with tireless care both over himself and over the flock entrusted to him. He held the annual Synods of the Bishopric with all zeal and did exert himself tremendously for the improvement of the clergy and the people. He is sometimes pictured as he gives himself the discipline; next to the crucifix, in front of which he kneels. (Information from Stadler's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints)
