THE MIRACULOUS RESCUE OF ST LUDGER'S MOTHER

    WELCOME!     The Miraculous Rescue of  Saint Ludger 's Mother Saint Ludger After the death of the noble Wursing , his son Thiadgrim became lord of his father's estate and married Liafburga , a Christian, daughter of a certain Nodradus and Adelburga .  Liafburga had been rescued from certain death as a newborn child by a miraculous act of providence. Adelburga's mother-in-law, a bitter pagan, reproached her Christian daughter-in-law for bearing only daughters and no male heirs; she claimed this was a just punishment for her having turned her back on the ancient pagan gods by becoming a Christian.
