BLESSED ALEXANDER, BLAKE, MARTYR Alexander Blake, a lay man, was arrested, sentenced, and executed by the agents of the English government on March 4, 1590. He suffered at Gray's Inn Lane, London, alongside Nicholas Horner for having harboured Fr Christopher Bales , a Catholic priest. Pope John Paul II beatified him on November 22, 1987 with George Haydock and Companions.
