  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 16th of August WELCOME! SAINT SERENA, MARTYR OF ROME Saint Serena (commemorated on August 16 ) was a distinguished Roman lady converted by the deacon Cyriacus .  SHE GAVE THE BELIEVERS MUCH COMFORT AND HELP Many sources, including the  Roman Martyrology , refer to her as the wife of the Emperor Diocletian. Serena, at the time of persecution,  gave the believers much comfort and help. The time and manner of her death - legend has it that she died of a deadly fever - is unknown; [she is also called a martyr].  SHE HAD BURIED THE MARTYR SUSANNA WITH HONOUR Her body was interred next to the virgin and martyr Susanna , her relative, whom she herself buried with honour in the cemetery of Saint Alexander.
