  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 1st of June WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD, ARCHBISHOP OF TRIER, MARTYR Saint Conrad (Cuno), (June 1), elected Archbishop of Trier and martyr, a descendant of a noble Swabian family, was born in Pfullingen, a four-hours' ride from Tübingen (Germany). He first saw the light of day at the beginning of the 11th century. Eylolf and Azecha (Hazecha), his parents, both distinguished by wealth and virtue, made sure that their son received a careful education.  When he was older Conrad met up with  Archbishop Hanno of Cologne (who may have been a relative of his). This holy prelate ordained him a priest and also appointed him provost at his cathedral church.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD OF BARI, HERMIT Bari Conrad (Conradus), the son of Henry and grandson of Welf IV, Duke of Bavaria, began his scientific education in his homeland. Afterwards Conrad went to Cologne, where he was instructed by Bishop Frederick, Margrave of Friuli. Due to his excellent progress in the sciences he was expected to embark on a most magnificent career.  But Conrad was looking for something other than temporal honours and headed for Clairvaux, where Saint Bernard had just started the foundation of this monastery. Conrad then undertook a pilgrimage to Palestine to the holy places and spent the rest of his life with a hermit who instructed him in all spiritual perfection. He died at Bari in Apulia.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 17th of February WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD, DUKE AND RELIGIOUS Saint Conrad (S. Conradus) , commemorated on February 17, February 14, and August 7, a monk at Clairvaux, was a son of Duke Henry the Black of Bavaria. Despite him being recorded as "buried at Clairvaux" it is highly probable that he is identical with Saint Conrad . In the Roman Martyrology for the Cistercians * he is listed on February 14 with the comment that he joined the Order of Cistercians when  Saint Bernard  was abbot. According to the Correspondence de Rome No. 44 , his death occurred in 1125 ( Migne* : 1225), and his uninterrupted cult was confirmed on April 7, 1832.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 7th of August WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD NANTULNUS, MARTYR Conradus Nantulnus (August 7) was a pilgrim. We don not know the name of his hometown. In 1286, he passed through Wolfrathshausen [Wolfratshausen], not far from Munich. Here the castellan Ganther, who was coveting the pilgrim's meagre belongings, illegally detained him, accused him of a vile crime and burned him at the stake, or, as Raderus * relates in his work, had him roasted to death in the same way as  Saint Laurence had been killed. But the Lord God glorified his faithful servant through many miracles, as a result of which a church was built in his honour and his veneration was confirmed by Pope Boniface VIII . In the above-mentioned town of Wolfrathshausen, he is commemorated on the Sunday before the feast of Saint Laurence. SAINT CONRAD, BISHOP OF CONSTANCE This eminent servant of God was, by his humility and sanctity, the bright ornament of the most illustrious house of the Guelphs, in Germany, which so many princes have honoured with their martial achievements and sovereign dignities. Their pedigree is derived by some from Clodion, king of the Franks, and Wittekind the Great, (who was created by Charlemagne first duke of Saxony,) and consequently from Woden, the chief god, and the stock of the principal royal families of the Saxons which founded the Heptarchy in England.  THE NAME OF GUELPH The name of Guelph or Guelf was taken by this family in the reign of Charlemagne,  at which time they were counts of Altorff, now called Weingarten in Suabia, not Altorff, the university near Nuremberg in Franconia; nor the capital of Uri in Switzerland.  Conrad, abbot of Ursperg, who gives the noble pedig...

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 19th of February WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD OF PIACENZA, HERMIT Saint Conrad of Piacenza was a hermit of the Third Order of Saint Francis. He belonged to one of the noblest families of Piacenza, and having married when he was quite young, led a virtuous and God-fearing life.  On one occasion, when he was engaged in his usual pastime of hunting, he ordered his attendants to fire some brushwood in which game had taken refuge. The prevailing wind caused the flames to spread rapidly, and the surrounding fields and forest were soon in a state of conflagration.  ST CONRAD WAS STRICKEN WITH REMORSE A mendicant, who happened to be found near the place where the fire had originated, was accused of being the author. He was imprisoned, tried, and condemned to death.
