ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER
Saints celebrated on the 8th of September
O glorious Virgin, Mother of God, blessed among all nations, worthy of praise and the greatest of praise, intercede for me with thy beloved Son. O honoured Lady, Mother of the King of Angels and Archangels, assist and deliver me from every difficulty and danger.
O Blossom of the Patriarchs, the Virgins and the Angels, Hope of Glory, Beauty of Virgins, Admiration of the Angels and Archangels, remember me, and forsake me not, I beseech thee, at the terrible hour of my death. O Star of the Sea, Gate of Heaven, Temple of God, Palace of Jesus Christ, Harbour of Safety, Power of all Nations, Pearl of all Sweetness, Hope of the Faithful; O Queen who shelters the guilty, who surpasses in radiance the Virgins and the Angels, thy presence gives joy to all the hosts of Heaven.
Therefore, O Mother of Mercy, I place in the protection of thy holy hands my going out, my coming in, my sleeping, my waking, the sight of my eyes, the touch of my hands, the speech from my lips, the hearing of my ears, so that in everything I may be pleasing to thine own beloved Son. Amen.
OUR LADY OF VAILANKANNI
➡️ The Novena Prayer to Our Lady of Good Health Vailankanni
The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, also known as Sanctuary of Our Lady of Vailankanni, is a Marian shrine located at the small town of Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, South India.
THE FESTIVAL DRAWS NEARLY 5 MILLION PILGRIMS EACH YEAR
The apparition of Blessed Mary and the Christ Child to a slumbering shepherd boy [in 1570], the healing of a handicapped buttermilk vendor, and the rescue of Portuguese sailors from a deadly sea storm [on September 8] led to only a simple and modest chapel being built by the Portuguese sailors who washed ashore safely.
More than 500 years later, the nine-day festival and celebration is still observed and draws nearly 5 million pilgrims each year.
"THE LOURDES OF THE EAST"
The Shrine of Our Lady of Vailankanni is also known as "the Lourdes of the East" because it is one of the most frequented pilgrimage centres in India.
The shrine of Vailankanni was elevated to the status of 'Minor Basilica' and merged with the Basilica of St Mary Major in Rome on November 3, 1962 by Pope John XXIII.
