  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 12th of March WELCOME! FRANCIS XAVIER TRUONG BUU DIEP, PRIEST AND MARTYR A statue of Father Diep Born on January 1, 1897 to a farming family in An Giang province, Francis Xavier Truong Buu Diep studied at Phnom Phen seminary, whose apostolic vicariate covered a wide area in both Cambodia and Vietnam. He was ordained in 1924 and spent most of his priesthood serving poor people in the Mekong Delta. Assigned to Tac Say Parish, Bac Lieu province, southern Vietnam, in 1930, he became known for his tireless pastoral work and his willingness to defend vulnerable people in the violent aftermath of World War II.  During the First Indochina War, in 1945 - 1946, when Father Diep was faced with the dangerous and unstable political situation, he was advised to go into hiding, but he refused. When the French came to rescue him, Father Diep answered: “I live with the flock of my faithful, and if I must die, I wish to die with them.”...

HERMANN, ABBOT OF NIEDERALTAICH  Niederaltaich: The Abbey Church's Organ  Hermann (Hermannus) , the 30th abbot of Niederaltaich in Lower Bavaria (South Germany) is remembered as a strict zealot of monastic discipline. He also expanded and improved the institute entrusted to him. Due to him keeping the reigns tight and fostering a spirit of order, many holy and capable monks emerged from the abbey, who, in turn, were nominated to lead other monasteries, such as Formbach, Oberaltaich, Prül, Aschbach and Biburg.  Born in 1200, Hermann was unanimously elected abbot on October 27, 1242, according to Lackner * (Memoriale, p. 86) , and consecrated on November 9, 1243, by Bishop Rüdiger of Passau in the Church of St Anthony in Vienna, which at that time still belonged to the Diocese of Passau.  It is well beyond the format of this short biography to give even a brief overview of all he did f...

SAINT NOTKER, BISHOP OF LIÈGE A number of hagiographers list Notker (Notger, Notgerus ), Bishop of Liège, with the title " saint ". His feast day is April 10. The  Bollandists * mention him among their praetermissi . He is not to be confused with Saint Notker of St Gall (the Stammerer) .   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 2nd of October WELCOME! SAINT AGLETRUDIS, VIRGIN Saint Agletrudis, whose feast day is October 2, and also June 27, was the daughter of  Saint Bavo  (commemorated on October 1). It is said that she influenced her father, who had been leading a highly dissolute lifestyle, to be brought onto a better path.  This Agletrudis is probably one and the same person as the  holy lady venerated on March 19 who is mentioned among the companions of  Saint Landoald . According to Bucelin *, who lists her name on June 27, Agletrudis was particularly invoked by the faithful in and around Ghent ( Gandavum ) in Belgium. SAINT VINCIANA, VIRGIN Saint Vinciana (Venciana), who is commemorated on September 11, and also on March 10, died in 643 in Wintershofen ( Wintershoven ). This virgin, whose relics rest in Ghent, Belgium, was the sister of  Saint Landoald .
