SAINT LUPICINUS OF CONDAT, ABBOT  St Lupicinus was the brother of  St Romanus of Condat   ( Condate ) who had retired into the forests of mount Jura, between France and Switzerland, and fixed his abode at a place called Condate, at the conflux of the rivers Bienne and Aliere, where he found a spot of ground fit for culture, and some trees which furnished him with a kind of wild fruit. Here he spent his time in prayer, reading, and labouring for his subsistence. LUPICINUS, HIS BROTHER, JOINED HIM Lupicinus, his brother, came to him some time after in company with others, who were followed by several more, drawn by the fame of the virtue and miracles of these two saints. After the death of Leo I, an archdeacon named Hilarius (Hilarus), a native of Sardinia, according to the “Liber Pontificalis”, was chosen to succeed him, and in all probability received consecration on November 19, 461.  THE "ROBBER SYNOD" Together with Julius, Bishop of Puteoli, Hilarius acted as legate of Leo I at the “Robber Synod” of Ephesus in 449. There he fought vigorously for the rights of the Roman See and opposed the condemnation of Flavian of Constantinople. BLESSED ROGER FILCOCK, PRIEST AND MARTYR  ➡️ Eighty-five Martyrs of England and Wales Blessed  Roger Filcock was born about 1570 in Sandwich, Kent, England. He studied at the English colleges in Reims, France, and Valladolid, Spain, where he was ordained a secular priest. He was sent on a mission to England in 1598.  HE WAS IMPRISONED IN NEWGATE Here he worked for two years and was admitted to the Society of Jesus by Fr Garnet. He was to travel to Flanders to become a novice, but was imprisoned in Newgate and executed for high treason in Tyburn in 1600 by being hanged, panted and quartered. He was about 30 years old. ONE OF THE 85 MARTYRS He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987 as one of the Eighty-Five Martyrs of England, Scotland and Wales. BLESSED MARK BARKWORTH, PRIEST AND MARTYR   ⬅️  Forty Martyrs of England and Wales (alias Lambert) Blessed Mark Barkworth , priest and martyr, was born about 1572 in Lincolnshire; he was executed at Tyburn February 27, 1601.  He was educated at Oxford, and converted to the Faith at Douai in 1594, by Father George, a Flemish Jesuit. In 1596 Barkworth went to Rome and thence to Valladolid.  A VISION OF ST BENEDICT On his way to Spain he is said to have had a vision of St Benedict, who told him he would die a martyr, in the Benedictine habit.  Admitted to the English College, December 16, 1596, he was ordained priest in 1599, and set out for the English Mission together with Ven. Thomas Garnet. As the icon of Mary passed Francis, his eyes met hers, and he heard in his heart a voice telling him, “Francis, why do you tarry in the world?
