SAINT MAXIMINUS, ABBOT Saint Maximinus (commemorated on December 15, May 27 and July 25) is usually called Saint Mesmin in France. He was second abbot of the Micy monastery (Miciacum) near Orleans, founded in 508 by King Clovis, and in this dignity succeeded his uncle, Saint Euspicius, in 510. Thanks to the success of the students he trained Maximinus achieved such fame that the monastery was later named after him. Among his most outstanding pupils was his brother Saint Lisardus, also Saint Avitus, Leonard, Urbin, Carileph, Theodomir, Laudomar and others. Maximinus died on December 15, 520; the Roman Martyrology lists him on this day. His mortal remains, near which many miracles occurred (gesta Epp. Vird. bei Pertz, mon. Germ. hist, script.
