ST LIMENIUS AND FELLOW BISHOPS OF VERCELLI - 25 NOVEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER   Saints celebrated on the 25th of November WELCOME! SAINT LIMENIUS AND FELLOW BISHOPS OF VERCELLI  Saint Limenius (November 25), along with Dunshelius, Albinus , Simplicius, Maximian, Lanfranc, Constantius, and Philosophus were, according to the  Elenchus *, bishops of Vercelli. Saint Limenius is also mentioned on  October 9 by the  Bollandists * (among the praetermissi ) (IV. 565) , with the remark that Ughellus * calls him "saint", and Ferrarius * says of him that he was a Greek, the successor of Bishop Saint Eusebius , and that he attended the Council of Aquileia in 381 together with Saint Ambrose. Since the  Bollandists * had no evidence of his ecclesiastical veneration at that time, they placed him among the praetermissi without a title at first. But at some point afterwards they seem to have received such proofs, because they did include him in the Elenchus *, where in the preface (page 17) they expressly st...

THE SEVEN SLEEPERS - 27 JUNE

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 27th of June WELCOME! THE SEVEN SLEEPERS From the 13th century " Golden Legend " by  Bl. Jacopo de Voragine , Archbishop of Genoa, 1275. Originally in Latin, it was the most widely read book (after the Bible) during the late Middle Ages: The seven sleepers  were born in the city of Ephesus. And when Decius the emperor came into Ephesus for the persecution of Christians, he commanded to seek all the Christian people, and bind them for to make them to do sacrifice, or else to put them to death. In this city were found seven Christian men, that is to wit, Maximian, Malchus, Marcianus, Denis, John, Serapion, and Constantine, practising fastings and prayers.
