He was accompanied by his archdeacon Regnifrid and several others. On his return journey via Tyrol or Switzerland he came to Ortenau in Baden, where he miraculously convinced a heretical bishop of the error of his teaching and led the people back to pure teaching. ST GODON, BISHOP OF METZ - 8 MAY

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 8th of May WELCOME! SAINT GODON, BISHOP OF METZ Saint Godon (Godo) who, according to Migne * is also called Gon, was Bishop of Metz. Little has come down to us with absolute certainty. Saint Gosricus, his predecessor, administered this diocese around A.D. 638.  Clodulphus, Godon's successor, flourished around the year 650. Between these to dates Godon's time as bishop is generally assumed to have taken place, which lasted eight years altogether.  Migne* (dict. hagiogr.) , however, states that Godon's episcopate began in 647, and that he is - for unknown reasons - revered as the patron saint of glovemakers and perfumers. According to Saussaius *, Godon carried out the episcopal duties alongside Clodulphus, which we regard as highly implausible. Saint Godon's mortal remains rest at St Symphorianus in Metz.  (Information from  Stadler 's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints,  Volume  2, Augsburg, 1861, pp. 461-62) *A h

The patient, however, was so ill that he vomited It up quite immediately afterwards. Goderannus picked up the Host and consumed It himself. St Hugh commented later that perhaps it would have been easier to endure the torture  Saint Laurence had to suffer than do what Goderannus did on this occasion. In 1070 he was elevated to the episcopal see of Saintes; but after just four years of apostolic work, the Lord called Goderannus to his eternal reward. Bucelin * lists him among the " blessed "; a more recent Benedictine calendar mentions
