Saints celebrated on the 25th of July
ABRANUS, HERMIT
Abranus (Abramus) (July 25, December 3), a hermit of Champagne in France, came originally from Ireland; his brother was Saint Gibrian. He arrived at the time of Saint Remigius, bishop of Reims, having landed there alongside six brothers and six sisters, all of whom, according to Migne, are venerated as saints in the church.
He then lived in a hermitage on the Marne, which Bishop Remigius had instructed, in strict penance and the service of God, until his holy passing.
In the life of Saint Gibrian, whose feast is celebrated on May 8, the Bollandists* mention that they could not establish whether Abranus enjoyed veneration by the church, which is why they count him among the praetermissi. According to Migne, this Saint Abranus is celebrated on December 3.
