Saints celebrated on the 31st of May
ISABELLA OF THE RESURRECTION, VIRGIN
Isabella of the Resurrection, (May 31) an Ursuline nun, was first mistress of novices at Beaucaire. When she was sick, the archbishop of Arles called her to be superior at Salon.
Despite her illness, she made the most willing effort. Even after her return from Salon to Beaucaire, her sickness continued; but she neither lacked in friendliness in her profession nor in faithfully fulfilling her duties - irrespective of the state of her health.
Her foremost virtue was an almost constant prayer. She placed emphasis on the spirit of simplicity and frankness among her novices. She herself did everything that was incumbent on her with great diligence, accuracy and loyalty. By nature she was somewhat hot-tempered, but she permitted neither herself nor others to speak maliciously or ambiguously.
After such faithful service to God, she finally caught a fayal fever. Focusing on the welfare of her soul and on the Lord, she died godly in 1657, the 50th of her life on earth.
