ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 6th of August WELCOME! BLESSED HERMANN, PROVOST Blessed Hermann (Hermannus) ( August 6 , December 23 ), first provost of the Premonstratensian monastery of Scheda or Scheida in Westphalia, was a Jew converted to the Gospel by divine grace. Nothing beyond the tradition of his sanctity has survived to posterity. He is said to have died on August 6, 1173; however, all modern religious writers mention him on December 23 . They also give him the title "Blessed." Since the Bollandists * could not obtain reliable evidence of his public veneration, they include him among their Praetermissi , intending to report on him in more detail on December 23 . He is also mentioned in the Elenchus *.
