ENGELBERT, ABBOT OF SAINT BLAISE - 10 APRIL

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 10th of April WELCOME! VENERABLE ENGELBERT, ABBOT OF SAINT BLAISE   Venerable Engelbert, Abbot, is remembered on April 10. A descendant of the distinguished Volkersdorff family in Styria, he chose monastic life and was elevated to abbot of Saint Blaise Abbey (Sankt Blasien) because of his learning and virtue. Each year he withdrew into solitude to a mountain cave for a certain period to devote himself undisturbed to contemplating heavenly matters. A fervent devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he composed a beautiful hymn in her praise, and penned other edifying writings.
