  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 4th of July WELCOME! SAINT ALBERT, BISHOP OF LODI Lodi Cathedral   Saint Albert ( Albertus ), Bishop of Lodi ( Laude Pompeia ) in northern Italy, was born in Ripalta ( Ripa Alta ) in the Diocese of Milan, into the Quadrelli family. A pious priest, asked to pray for Albert's mother, who was in mortal danger at his birth, prophesied that her baby would one day become a great man, which indeed came to pass. He grew up in the fear of God and in all virtue, and even in his youth was exceedingly charitable towards the poor.  At the time of the disputes between  Pope Alexander III and Emperor Frederick I, we find him as provost in his native Ripalta, from where he was expelled at the urging of Archbishop Galdinus de la Sala, who was decidedly on the side of  Pope Alexander III .
