ST HYPATIUS, BISHOP OF ANCYRA - 31 MARCH

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 31st of March WELCOME! SAINT HYPATIUS, BISHOP OF ANCYRA Saint Hypatius (March 31), was a bishop who on this day is listed in a Coptic calendar . The  Bollandists * ( III. 899 ) mention him, however, they are unable to provide more details about this holy prelate. It should also be noted that in the illustrations of the Greek-Russian calendar found in the introduction to Volume 1, Saint Hypatius is depicted as a bishop carrying an image of the Virgin Mary on March 31. The  Bollandists * ( May I. XXI ) conclude from this that he distinguished himself in the Iconoclasm as a defender of the pure doctrine; but on the other hand this type of depiction could also simply express the saint's general veneration of the Blessed Virgin. The Greek Directory ( Typikon ) calls him Bishop of Ancyra . Thus, it seems that he had no connection with Saint Hypatius , Bishop of Gangra (November 14), who lived in the 4th century, altho...
