SAINT EUSTADIOLA, ABBESS
Saint Eustadiola was the daughter of a noble councillor at Bourges. From her youth, she led a godly life and afterwards entered into the holy state of marriage, in which she bore a son, named Tetradius.
After her husband's death, she built and adorned the churches of her native town with her possessions, erected a nunnery and was elected abbess there. She abstained from meat for 70 years and gave sight to a blind man. According to Bucelin*, who commemorates her on May 10, she died around the year 696 at the advanced age of 90 and was buried in the Church of Saint Paul. Many miracles were performed at her tomb; through her intercession, many more blind people, the lame, and other afflicted persons obtained cures or relief. (II. 132)
