SAINT GAUZLIN, BISHOP OF TOUL Saint Gauzlin ( Gauzlinus ), also known as Goslinus and Gozlinus (French: St-Gauzelin ) - was Bishop of Toul and lived in the 10th century. He was the successor to Drogo, who died in the year 918. His diocese had suffered greatly from the devastating incursions of the Normans (Danes), and he therefore strove to remedy the damage that had been caused. In these endeavours, he was vigorously supported by the Emperors Henry I and Otto I (the Great). Contemporaries speak of him with high praise. They say he was worthy of all admiration for his practice of Christian works of charity; that the church and the monastery of Saint Mansuetus (the first Bishop of Toul) owed their renewal to him; and that he was tirelessly active while remaining extremely prudent and wise.
