Gerlo, also known as Serlo, was aBenedictine abbot at Gloucester in England. He died in 1304 and is called "blessed" by Bucelin and Menardus.

ST LILY - RELIGIOUS

Saint Lily, according to Butler, was  one of St Archbishop David's pupils - first at Menew and then at Caerleon in the Principality of Wales. He is also known as Gwas-Dewyd, i.e. "Man of David". He was venerated particularly in South Wales, and is commemorated in the town of Menew (Menevia) next to the Church of St Andrew, where the holy Archbishop David is buried. St Lily has a chapel dedicated to his memory, as does the mother of St David, whose name was Nun. We could not find any further information about him anywhere else. It also seems that the name Lily is not his real name. Unfortunately neither the German nor the English Butler state his proper name.

FAILENNA, VIRGIN - 3 MARCH

Failenna was an Irish maiden, who lived about A.D. 600. She is said to have shone with miracles in life and after death. Many pilgrims are said to have come to her grave.

FLORA, PENITENT - 3 MARCH

Flora, of Todi in Umbria, was converted by the Servite general Philip Benizi along with another lady, Helena, from her sinful ways, and won to a virtuous life, which she ended up in a monastery about the year 1310.

Saint Casia is listed by the hagiographer Migne as a martyr of Thessalonica, martyred under Diocletian in 304.

EUFENISSA - 3 MARCH

Eufenissa is mentioned by just one martyrologist, and is perhaps associated with the Society of St Ursula.

MODEMOCUS, RELIGIOUS - 3 MARCH

Modemocus was probably a disciple of St Barrus, further details are lost.

PETER DE PULCHRO MONTE - RELIGIOUS AND MARTYR - 3 MARCH

Peter was a Franciscan of Beaumont (hence called de pulchro monte) who was martyred with several friars, among whom John Raulet is mentioned by name. They were killed by heretics in 1565 at Pamieres in the Languedoc. Their bodies were thrown into a well.

FATIMA APPARITION - AUGUST 13 The Fatima Children “BUT IN THE END MY IMMACULATE HEART WILL TRIUMPH.” But in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me; it will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. THE AUGUST 13 EVENTS On August 13, the children were in jail at Ourem. The civil administrator threatened to boil them in oil if they did not tell the Lady’s secret. Though badly frightened, they could not think of disobeying our Lady. In disgust, the administrator finally freed them. A large number of people, not knowing that the children had been kidnapped, went to the Cova for the scheduled appearance of the Lady. At noon, there was a loud clap of thunder. Then, according to an eyewitness: “Right after the thunder came a flash, and immediately we all noticed a little cloud, very white, beautiful and bright,...

ST VALENTINE, BISHOP OF RHAETIA - 7 JANUARY

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 7th of January WELCOME! SAINT VALENTINE, BISHOP OF RHAETIA Saint Valentine (Valentinus) is the patron saint of the diocese of Passau. The Proprium of Passau relates his life story as follows: Saint Valentine came from the seashore and arrived at Batava, today's Passau. Here he wanted to proclaim the gospel to the inhabitants, who were ignorant of the true worship of God, and therefore went to Rome to obtain the necessary authority from the Pope for this undertaking. Upon his return, he invested much time and effort to gain those lost souls for Christ, as the Pope expected him to. Valentine himself thirsted for their salvation, incessantly preaching the Divine word to them. After some considerable time, however, Valentine realised that all the seed he had sown fell on rocky ground. Thus he travelled again to Rome with the request to be sent to another place that had fertile soil. The Pope received him graciously, consecra...
