Saints celebrated on the 20th of May
BL. ALGERUS, AUTHOR
Blessed Algerus, Belgian by birth, received his scientific education at Liège, and subsequently entered the famous monastery of Cluny where he excelled before his brethren in all virtues, but chiefly in self-denial.
He also wrote several writings against heretics, which are said to have been not insignificant. He blossomed around the year 1100. Bucelin counts him among the "Blessed".

***
Alger of Liège (Algerus magister) was a theologian, whose writings influenced the development of Canon Law. He was born in Liège, Belgium, in the mid-11th century.
According to his biographer, Nicholas of Liège, Alger received his education in his native city and was first appointed deacon and teacher at St Bartholomew's, Liège.
About 1101 he was transferred to St Lambert's Cathedral, became a canon, and served as secretary to Bishop Otbert (1092–1117) and his successor, Frederick (1119–21).
After Frederick's death on May 27, 1121, Alger entered Cluny and, though already advanced in years, was ordained. He died at Cluny, France, about 1131 or 1132.
