SAINTS THALAUEUS, ASTERIUS, ALEXANDER, AND OTHERS, MARTYRS
Saints Thalaueus, Asterius, Alexander, and Others were 3rd century martyrs. Asterius and Alexander were the executioners sent to inflict capital punishment on St Thalalseus, condemned to death as a Christian.
THE POWERFUL TESTIMONY OF THE HOLY MARTYR'S CONSTANCY
At sight of the constancy of the holy Martyr, they, with others of the bystanders, declared themselves Christians, and all shared his fate (A.D. 272) in the reign of the Emperor Numerian.
THE PLACE OF THEIR MARTYRDOM
The Roman Martyrology marks their martyrdom as having taken place at Edessa in Syria; but it now appears that this is a mistake for a less known city of the same name in Cilicia (Asia Minor).

PRAYER:
Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of your holy martyrs Thalaueus, Asterius, Alexander, and Companions, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
