Saints celebrated on the 28th of June
SAINT ARGIMIR, RELIGIOUS AND MARTYR
Argimir (Argimirus, Argymirus), a monk and martyr, of noble family, came from the city of Cabra (Egabra) in Spain, and later held the prestigious office of censor in Cordoba.
To be able to live more towards Christian perfection, he then decided to join a monastery. While fully serving God, far from the business of life, he was suddenly reported to a Moorish judge for having blasphemed Mohammed, whereupon the Kadi had him seized and thrown in prison.
Since he could not persuade him to abandon Christianity by any form of torture, he had him put to death with the sword in A.D. 856 and then hung on a gallows, where his corpse remained until it was taken away by the care of a Christian and interred in the church of Saints Acisclus (Ascisclus) and Perfectus. The Roman Martyrology* lists him on June 28 with the name Argymirus.
