MARIA MAGDALENA LUTZ AND MARIA ANNA HEIM, VIRGINS AND MARTYRS

A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's
Saints' books,
"Stammenbuch..." (1693)

Maria Magdalena Lutz and Maria Anna Heim were pious virgins at the convent of the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis of Assisi at Klosterbeuren in Swabia [Germany].

When the Swedish soldiers stormed the monastery in 1633, Maria Magdalena Lutz was in danger of losing her virginity. She cried out to Jesus for help and miraculously received it: she suddenly went stiff all over her body and therefore remained unharmed. She died six years later, leaving a blessed memory.

During the same invasion of the Swedes, on January 17, the soldiers wanted to do violence to the pious Virgin Mary Anna Heim. Since she resisted steadfastly, her attacker mauled her so badly with blows and stabs with his sword that she was left half dead on the spot.

When she regained consciousness, a small boy unknown to her, who was believed to be her guardian angel, took her to the town of Babenhausen, where she met those of her fellow sisters who had been able to flee. As a result of the mistreatment she had suffered she died there as a virgin and martyr about three weeks later (on the following February 6).

These holy virgins are remembered on January 21 and also on February 5.

The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me; it will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. THE AUGUST 13 EVENTS On August 13, the children were in jail at Ourem. The civil administrator threatened to boil them in oil if they did not tell the Lady’s secret. Though badly frightened, they could not think of disobeying our Lady. In disgust, the administrator finally freed them. A large number of people, not knowing that the children had been kidnapped, went to the Cova for the scheduled appearance of the Lady. At noon, there was a loud clap of thunder. Then, according to an eyewitness: “Right after the thunder came a flash, and immediately we all noticed a little cloud, very white, beautiful and bright,...
