SAINT NEARCHUS, MARTYR OF ARMENIA
Saint Nearchus (April 22), a martyr in Armenia, gave his life for Christ along with Saint Polyeuctus, whom he had converted to the faith. They suffered around the year 260 during the reign of Emperor Valerian. The martyrdom narrative of Saint Polyeuctus recounts that he collected the blood of his friend and brought it to the otherwise unknown city of the Cananeotes, perhaps located in Armenia.
