Saints celebrated on the 15th of May
SAINT EUTICIUS, PRIEST AND MARTYR
Saint Eutitius was a priest at Forenza (Ferentum) in Apulia. He served the Christians during the persecution of Claudius. Among those he ministered to were Saints Gracilian and Felissima. Led by the Holy Spirit, he travelled to Falari (Falerium) in Etruria to bury these two saints. Since Gracilian's parents were still stuck in paganism, he taught and baptised them. Thereupon he returned. A while later he was reported to the authorities for being a Christian, put on trial and, after much torment, beheaded.
Bishop Dionysius buried his mortal remains on the ground near Forenza. Once the Christians were permitted to worship freely, a church was erected over his grave. Having somewhat fallen into disrepair, it was completely rebuilt in A.D. 1495, on which occasion the inhabitants of Soriano found the relics of the saint.
Pope Alexander VI had them carefully examined, and their indubitable authenticity was established. At that time, healing water flowed from the crypt of the church during Holy Mass and, moreover, from the consecration to Holy Communion, a manna-like exudation appeared around the sarcophagus. (III. 458)
