DEODATUS, RELIGIOUS OF EBERSMÜNSTER
Deodatus, French Dié, a religious of the Ebersmünster monastery in Alsace, was the son of Hunon, lord of a part of Alsace, and Saint Huna, which the Bollandists* mistakenly call a companion of Saint Ursula. This holy man was baptised by Saint Deodatus, Bishop of Nevers and Abbot of St-Dis in Lorraine, and took the name from him. As a result, he renounced the world, entered the monastery of Ebersmünster and died in the odour of sanctity towards the end of the 7th century. (But., Mg.)
