MICHAEL VON FAULHABER, CARDINAL Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber  Michael von Faulhaber (born March 5, 1869 in Heidenfeld, Bavaria) was a German cardinal and archbishop of Munich who became a prominent opponent of the Nazis. The son of a baker, he was educated at local secondary schools and went on to study in Rome. Michael von Faulhaber was ordained as a priest in 1892. In 1899, he qualified as a university lecturer in Old Testament studies at Würzburg ("Habilitation"). This was followed by research trips to libraries in England, France, and Spain. In 1903, he became a full professor in Strasbourg, where he distinguished himself as a prolific and highly effective public speaker. GABRIEL PIGUET, BISHOP OF CLERMONT -FERRAND Bishop Gabriel Piguet   Gabriel Emmanuel Joseph Piguet, born February 24, 1887 at Mâcon, France, was ordained a priest on July 2 , 1910.  Following doctoral studies in Rome, he earned a doctorate in theology. His first posting as a curate was at the Cathedral of Autun, also in eastern France. After the outbreak of war in 1914, the 27-year-old Gabriel Piguet served as a medic with French troops; he was severely wounded at the front south of Verdun and was discharged with military honours in 1917. Gabriel Piguet subsequently resumed his duties at the Cathedral of Autun. He became active in Catholic Action and the youth movement. In 1929, he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Clermont (an archdiocese since 2002). Finally, in 1933,  Pope Pius XI appointed him Bishop of Clermont. SAINT DIONYSIUS, BISHOP OF ALEXANDRIA Dionysius of Alexandria, Bishop [Dennis, Denis] (Feast days: November 17; also January 27, February 18, April 8, August 31, September 14). This Saint Dionysius, Bishop of Alexandria - whose life is recounted by the Bollandists * on  October 3 because they identify him with the  holy martyr Dionysius listed in the Roman Martyrology * on that day - was born in Alexandria, Egypt, into a highly distinguished pagan family. He initially attended schools of pagan philosophy but found no satisfaction there; this he only attained when his thirst for knowledge led him to the Holy Scriptures of the Christians.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 21st of June WELCOME! SAINT AARON, ABBOT Saint Aaron, Abbot (Feast day: June 22 or June 21). Saint Aaron, an abbot, was born in England towards the end of the fifth century and came to France; there, in Brittany, he presided over a monastery situated on an island opposite the town of Aletha - an island that took its name, "Monke"(Monachus) or "Arem" (Aaron) , from him.  When  Saint Machutus (Saint Malo)  intended to sail from England to France to preach the faith, he found a small boat on the shore in which sat our Saviour in human form. Our Lord invited him aboard and guided him across the sea, saying: "There is an island in this sea inhabited by a monk named Aaron; I shall have my angel lead you to him, and he will receive you most graciously."
