ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 7th of September WELCOME! SAINT AUGUSTALIS, BISHOP OF ARLES Saint Augustalis, commemorated on September 7, was a Bishop of Arles in France who lived between the 3rd century and the middle of the 4th. He is to be clearly distinguished from the later Bishop Augustalis , who attended the Council of Orange. The Roman Martyrology * states simply, under September 7, that he is venerated in Gaul - without specifying his episcopal see. This is likely because the martyrology's author, Baronius* , accidentally mixed up these two bishops. Therefore he could not possibly assign this see to our saint, given that during the latter's lifetime , a certain Hilarius signed the acts of that council as Bishop of Arles.
