Saints celebrated on the 6th of May
MARQUARD, ABBOT OF WILTEN
After the death of the famous Heymo, the original founder of the Wilten monastery in Tyrol (in 878), the monastery had fallen into decline, and in 1128 Bishop Reginbert of Brixen introduced the Norbertines there.
THE FIRST MONKS CAME FROM THE ROTH MONASTERY
Marquard [Markwart] of Pruntrut in Switzerland was confirmed as the first abbot by Pope Innocent II on April 30, 1138. The first monks came from the Roth monastery in the diocese of Augsburg. Abbot Marquard died "with the reputation of a blessed" on May 6, 1142. His relics were rediscovered in 1639 and buried in the sacristy.
