Saints celebrated on the 10th of June
WELCOME!
SAINT BASILIDES AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
According to the Roman Martyrology* , Saint Basilides (commemorated on June 10) was a martyr who suffered death in Rome under Emperor Aurelian and the City Prefect Plato, alongside Saints Cripus (Cripodes), Mandalis (Mandal), and twenty others. However, according to the Bollandists*, this Saint Basilides is identical to the one listed next; they argue that the names of his companions in [their copy of the] Roman Martyrology* are recorded incorrectly - specifically, that "Tripolis" should read "Tripus" and "Magdaletes" should read "Mandalis" - implying that Saint Magdaletes, who was martyred at Tripolis, has been erroneously linked with Saint Basilides.
