  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 13th of March WELCOME! SAINT LEANDER OF SEVILLE, BISHOP OF SEVILLE, CONFESSOR  (A.D. 596.) Saint Leander was of an illustrious family, and born at Carthagena in Spain. He had two brothers, St Fulgentius, bishop of Ecija and Carthagena, and St Isidore, our saint’s successor in the see of Seville. He had also one sister, Florentia by name, who had consecrated herself to God in the state of virginity. He set them an example of that piety which they faithfully imitated.  HE ENTERED INTO A MONASTERY VERY YOUNG He entered into a monastery very young, where he lived many years, and attained to an eminent degree of virtue and sacred learning. These qualities occasioned his being promoted to the see of Seville: but his change of condition made little or no alteration in his method of life, though it brought on him a great increase of care and solicitude for the salvation of those whom God had put under his care, as well as ...

SAINT MECHTHILD OF SPONHEIM, ANCHORESS  Saint Mechthild (Mechtildis, Mathilda) was an Anchoress of the Benedictine Abbey of Sponheim (Burg-Sponheim) in the diocese of Mainz. She died on February 26, 1154 and is called "saint" by many. She is often confused with  Mathildis (Mechthild) of Diessen SHE WAS THE SISTER OF ABBOT BETHELMUS According to Migne, she was a sister of Abbot Bethelmus of Sponheim. Her occupation was prayer, manual labour, and penance. The church in which she is buried is the only remnant of the former monastery buildings. SAINT ANDREW, BISHOP OF FLORENCE, CONFESSOR  Saint Andrew was bishop of Florence in Etruria, and he presided over this See before Saint Zenobius ; according to others directly after him. He was bishop of that city around the year 400, and is mentioned in the Roman Martyrology on February 26. Information from Stadler's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints, 1858 HIS ENTRY IN THE ROMAN MARTYROLOGY: "At Florence, Saint Andrew, bishop and confessor."
