ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 7th of January WELCOME! VENERABLE ANNO, ABBOT The venerable Anno, commemorated on January 7 , was Abbot of the monastery of Micy ( Miciacum ) in the Diocese of Orléans, and simultaneously of the monastery of Jumièges ( Gemeticum ), assuming leadership around the year 943. He possessed the spirit of poverty and charity to such a high degree that he habitually refreshed strangers with wine, while he and his brethren - who were devoted to him with deep love and reverence - drank only water. After governing for more than thirty years and restoring to an excellent state the monastery - which had previously been so close to ruin that it had effectively been auctioned off to the highest bidder - he died in the odor of sanctity in the year 973, deeply mourned by his brethren.
