SAINT ALEXIS, ARCHBISHOP OF KIEV

Saint Alexis [Alexius] was a Russian nobleman who embraced the religious life under the Rule of Saint Basil, and who later became Archbishop of Kiev. Famous for the working of miracles and for wisdom and learning, he is said to have been appealed to for advice, even by the Sultan of the Turks in Asia Minor. He died in A.D. 1364.
