SALADIN, HERMIT
Saladin (Saladinus) was a hermit at Ascoli Piceno, where he lived a penitent life for 27 years. He died on April 4, 1241. In 1649, his mortal remains were rediscovered at the cathedral church where they had been interred under the altar of Saints Michael and Maurus. From there they were then transferred to the Loreto Chapel. The local faithful venerate him as "blessed".
Saladin is also remembered on July 25.
