SAINT FERDINAND OF ARAGON, BISHOP OF CAIAZZO
Saint Ferdinand of Aragon (Ferdinandus Aragonius) (Fredenandus) is known as "of Aragon" because he was believed to have belonged to the Spanish royal family of that name, or at least to an Italian family related to the kings of Aragon.
He was the fifth Bishop of Caiazzo or Gaiazzo (Calatia [Galazia]) in the Kingdom of Naples, perhaps in the 13th century. His tomb is located at Cornello, not far from Albiniano. When his body was laid to rest in the local Saint Mary's Church in A.D. 1620, it bore his name instead from then on. Through his intercession, miracles occurred during his life on earth and after his death. (v. 330.)
