Saints celebrated on the 12th of May
SAINT EPIPHANA, MARTYR
During the reign of Emperor Diocletian, the governor Tertyllus condemned Saint Epiphana, a holy martyr of Leontium [Lentini] in Sicily, to the most terrible torments. When, finally, her breasts were partially torn from her body by the murderers, she gave up her ghost.
At Tertyllus' command, her body was dragged into a dark cave with a rope around its neck, lest it should have a Christian burial.
The story of her martyrdom is found in the Acts of the martyrs Alphius, Philadelphus and Cyrinus, whose memory is celebrated on May 10. (III. 2. II. 528)
Saint Epiphana is also commemorated on July 12.
