Saints celebrated on the 7th of May
Saint Juvenalis, commemorated on May 7, was a martyr who is venerated for his many miracles, particularly in Benevento, for through his intercession the city was once freed from the plague.
His mortal remains are preserved in that city in the church of St Sophia under an altar specially dedicated to him. Large crowds flock to this altar, especially on May 7, when his feast is celebrated there.
He is listed as a martyr in many martyrologies, also in the Roman Martyrology*. However, no other details are known about his life and death; for the Bollandists* have demonstrated at length that this Saint Juvenalis was neither Bishop of Narni nor Bishop of Terni, nor a deacon of Pope Saint Alexander.
