Saints celebrated on the 11th of June
BLESSED JOAN OF VILLANOVA, VIRGIN
Blessed Joan of Villanova (Johanna de Villanova), also called Diana, of the House of Villanova, was a Carthusian nun at a convent called Domus Bertrandi (Bertaudi).
In their Life of Saint Rosselina on June 11, the Bollandists* suggest that Joan did not stay at the said nunnery forever, but rather moved on to become prioress at Salenbaut or Sallobran (Cella Robaudi). This former monastery was located between les Arcs (Arcus) and Trans (Tranes) in the diocese of Frejus.
Joan lived until about 1295. She was succeeded as prioress by her cousin Rosselina. Fifty years after her death, Joan's body was solemnly raised and was found to be beautiful and shiny, without any trace of decay.
